This beautiful Cryptocoryne (“Crypt” to enthusiasts) looks best when planted in a bunch in the mid to background of an aquarium. The green leaves, which are long and pointed, will create a lush look, and it is particularly attractive to see fish swimming through the reed like leaves.
Well suited to community tanks, the Cryptocoryne Balansae prefers stable water conditions, so ensure that regular testing of the water parameters is carried out. The characteristic ‘puckering’ of the leaves is achieved only when it has adequate light, so for best results take care that lighting levels are at medium.
Reproduction occurs quickly once this plant is settled. It will send out runners, and eventually form a dense community. It is advisable to trim the runners occasionally.
This Cryptocoryne is a slow growing plant with long, pointed leaves. It can be used in both the midground and background of an aquarium, and looks best when planted in groups.
